Setting a Task Timeline¶
What it does¶
The Timeline section of a task lets you set when work should start, when it must be done, and if there's a hard deadline time. These dates drive the smart views (Overdue Tasks, Due Today, Tomorrow's Tasks) and feed into calendar integration.
How to use it¶
- Open a task (or create a new one).
- Tap the Timeline section to expand it.
-
Three date/time fields are available:
-
Start Date: tap and select a date from the picker. Label reads "No start date" when unset. Format displayed:
1st January 2025. - Due Date: tap and select a date. Label reads "No due date" when unset. Format displayed:
1st January 2025. -
Deadline Time: tap and select a time (24-hour format, e.g.
14:30). Only relevant if a Due Date is also set. -
Tap Save (or navigate away) to confirm.
How dates affect task views¶
| Date state | View affected |
|---|---|
| Due date = today | Appears in Due Today |
| Due date = tomorrow | Appears in Tomorrow's Tasks |
| Due date in the past | Appears in Overdue Tasks, marked with an Overdue badge |
| No due date | Only appears in All Tasks and To Do List |
Tips & shortcuts¶
- Setting a Start Date future-dates a task so it won't clutter your To Do List until work is meant to begin (exact behaviour depends on your view settings, verify with the team).
- The Deadline Time is a separate field from the Due Date; you can have a due date without a deadline time, or set both for stricter scheduling.
- Overdue tasks show a red Overdue badge on the task card so they're easy to spot in any view.
