Reading Warp's Responses¶
What it does¶
The conversation shows your messages and Warp's answers in different styles, with distinct states for while it is thinking, when something has gone wrong, and when a conversation has run as long as it can.
Reading an answer¶
- Your messages sit on the right in a grey bubble. The text is selectable, and any images you attached appear above it.
- Warp's answers sit on the left with the Warp avatar above them, and fade in as they arrive. They are formatted properly: headings, lists, bold text, code blocks and links all render.
- Generated images appear as thumbnails below the text. Tap one to view it full screen.
- Citations appear as inline links in the text. Tap one to open the sources behind the answer. See Viewing Sources for a Warp Response.
While Warp is thinking¶
An animated bubble with three pulsing dots appears, and the status text moves on as it works: "Thinking…", then "Analysing data…", then "Searching deeper into the universe…"
Where Warp is working across several areas at once, each part reports its own progress rather than one status overwriting another, so a complex request shows several things happening.
When something goes wrong¶
The bubble shows: "We couldn't complete your request. Please try again. If it persists, contact us." with a Try Again button that resends the same request.
If it keeps happening, Warp is usually struggling to reach your data or to build an answer. Rephrasing the question or starting a new conversation clears it more often than retrying does.
When a conversation is full¶
There is a limit on how long a single conversation can run. At the limit Warp replies: "That was a long conversation! You've reached the maximum number of messages for this conversation, please start a new one."
Tap New chat to start again. This is worth doing before you hit the limit anyway: long threads carry a lot of accumulated context, and answers get vaguer as they grow.
Tips & shortcuts¶
- Answers stream in as they are written, so you can start reading before Warp has finished.
- Long-press one of your own messages for Copy, Select and Edit.
