Tasks on Home¶
What it does¶
The Tasks section on Home shows what you need to do today: tasks due today, and anything already overdue. It is deliberately narrow, so it stays a list you can actually finish rather than a backlog you scroll past.
How to use it¶
- Tasks due today come first, then overdue ones, three at a time. Use the paging controls below the list for the rest.
- Each row carries a status: Pending or Overdue.
- A task due within the next couple of hours stands out, so genuine time pressure is visible at a glance.
- Tap a row to open the task.
- Tap View all at the top right to open the full Tasks screen.
Why a task you expected is not here¶
This is the most common question about this section, and there are three reasons:
- It is due tomorrow or later. Home shows today and overdue only. A task due tomorrow appears in the Coming up list once today is clear, and moves into the main list when tomorrow arrives.
- It has no due date. Undated tasks never appear on Home. Give it a due date and it will.
- You hid it. See Hiding Items on Home.
Completed and archived tasks are not shown either. All of your tasks, in every state, are on the Tasks screen behind View all.
When today is clear¶
The section shows You're clear for today with "Nothing left due today.", then Coming up: the next three tasks by due date, so you can see what is heading your way.
If you have no tasks at all, you get a Create a task card instead, with "Capture to-dos and stay on top of everything you need to get done."
Tips & shortcuts¶
- The count in Today's summary matches this list: it counts tasks due today or overdue, minus any you have hidden.
- Rows are ordered for you, highest priority first within due-today, then overdue with the oldest first. There are no group headings; the order is the grouping.
- If the section says Couldn't load your tasks, tap it to try again.
