Warp in Chat

What it does

Warp can be brought into any chat conversation by typing @Warp in the message composer. It answers in the thread as a participant, with access to your warpSpeed data, so everyone in the chat sees the reply.

It is the same Warp as everywhere else in the app, not a separate assistant. What differs is the setting: the conversation belongs to the chat, not to you, and there is no history panel or export here.

How to use it

  1. Open any direct or group chat.
  2. In the composer, type @Warp followed by your question or request (e.g. "@Warp what's on my calendar today?"). Capitalisation does not matter, type it however you like and it is tidied up to @Warp as you type.
  3. Tap Send.
  4. Warp responds in the chat thread as a message.

The hint below the composer always reminds you: "Use @Warp to bring your AI assistant into any chat."

While Warp is answering, the thread shows it working, and one of three things follows: the answer, a message saying it could not complete the request, or a message telling you your AI credits are used up.

When Warp's reply is the most recent message in a chat, the chat list shows a shortened version of it in the preview, the same as it would for a person.

Tips & shortcuts

  • @Warp works in both direct chats and group chats, useful for getting quick AI answers in a shared context.
  • If Warp says your credits are used up, that is your AI credit allowance rather than anything wrong with the chat. See Plan & Usage to upgrade or add credits.
  • Warp in chat draws on the same AI credits as Ask Warp; it is one allowance across the app.
  • Everyone in a group chat sees both your @Warp message and Warp's reply, so treat it as you would anything else you send there.
