Sorting and Filtering Notes¶
What it does¶
You can sort, order, and filter the Notes list to find notes faster. Controls are in the Sort panel (⋯ → Sort) and the Group by Date toggle in the options menu.
How to use it¶
- On the Notes list, tap ⋯ (top-right) → Sort to open the Sort / Filter panel.
- Choose a Sort by option: Date created, Date Updated, or Title (alphabetical A–Z).
- Choose an Order by direction: Newest first (descending) or Oldest first (ascending).
- To filter by date, set a start date and/or end date: only notes created or updated within that window are shown.
- To filter by tag, select one or more tags in the Tags filter section, only notes with matching tags appear.
- To group notes by date, tap ⋯ → Group by Date (toggle). When on, notes are grouped under section headers (Today / Yesterday / older dates). When off, notes appear as a flat list.
- To search, tap the 🔍 icon (top-right) and type. Notes are searched by title and content with a 500ms debounce. Tap ✕ to clear.
When an active filter returns no results, the list shows "There are no notes to show".
Tips & shortcuts¶
- Combine a Date Range filter with a Tag filter to narrow down notes about a specific topic from a specific period.
- Group by Date is a view toggle, not a filter; it reorganises the list without hiding notes.
- Clear date/tag filters from the Sort panel; clear search from the search bar itself.
