Setting the Event Timeline

What it does

The Timeline section of an event sets the start and end date/time, controls whether it's an all-day event, and lets you specify time zones for multi-timezone scheduling.

How to use it

Setting start and end date/time

  1. In the Create/Edit Event screen, tap the Timeline section.
  2. Four fields are available:
  3. Start Date: tap to open the date picker.
  4. Start Time: tap to set the start time (defaults to the next 30-minute mark).
  5. End Date: tap to set the end date (defaults to same day as start).
  6. End Time: tap to set the end time (defaults to 60 minutes after start).
  7. Multi-day events are supported, set End Date to a later date.

Making an event all-day

  1. Toggle the All Day switch on.
  2. The start and end times are removed; the event occupies the entire day.
  3. Multi-day all-day events are supported: set start and end dates on different days.

Setting time zones

  1. Tap the timezone selector below the start or end time field.
  2. Search or scroll the timezone list and select the appropriate zone.
  3. Start and end timezones can be set independently, useful for travel or cross-timezone meetings.
  4. If no timezone is explicitly set, the event uses the device's local timezone.

How multi-day events display

For events spanning multiple days, the calendar shows a label indicating the current day's position: - "Day 2 of 3 All Day": a day in the middle of a multi-day event. - "Day 1 of 3 from 14:00": the first day, showing the start time. - "Day 3 of 3 until 16:00": the last day, showing the end time.

Tips & shortcuts

  • New events auto-fill the start time to the next 30-minute mark after now. Change it as needed.
  • If you tap a time slot in Day or Week view before creating, the timeline is pre-filled with that slot.
  • For events that recur at the same time weekly, set the timeline once and configure Recurrence: you won't need to recreate the event.
