Duplicating or Copying an Event¶
What it does¶
The Event Actions menu on any event you own provides two quick copy operations: - Duplicate Event: creates an identical copy of the event in the same calendar. - Copy to…: copies the event to a different connected calendar.
How to use it¶
Duplicating an event¶
- Tap an event to open its Detail view.
- Tap the ⋯ (ellipsis-horizontal) icon → Duplicate Event.
- A copy of the event is created in the same calendar with all the same fields (title, time, guests, description, location, tags, etc.).
- The screen returns to the calendar view. The duplicate appears immediately.
Copying to another calendar¶
- Tap an event to open its Detail view.
- Tap the ⋯ icon → Copy to…
- A calendar picker modal opens listing your connected calendars.
- Select the target calendar.
- The event is copied to that calendar. If the target calendar is the same as the source, no copy is made.
When to use each option¶
- Duplicate is useful for templating, create one "standup" event and duplicate it if you need an ad-hoc version.
- Copy to… is useful when you have separate personal and work calendars and want the same event on both (e.g. a personal appointment that also needs to appear on your work schedule).
Tips & shortcuts¶
- Duplicated and copied events are independent of the original, editing or deleting one doesn't affect the other.
- Tags from the original event are preserved in both Duplicate and Copy To operations.
