Getting Started with Ask Warp¶
What it does¶
Ask Warp is warpSpeed's assistant. You can ask it questions, give it instructions, and have it take actions across everything you have connected: email, calendar, tasks, notes and contacts. It is one conversation that remembers its context, and it is saved so you can come back to it.
Warp is the assistant's name wherever it appears in warpSpeed. Ask Warp is the place you go to have a conversation with it.
Two ways to open it, one conversation¶
Ask Warp opens either as a sheet over what you are doing, or as a screen of its own. They are the same conversation with the same history; the only difference is how much room you want.
As a sheet: tap the Ask Warp button in the centre of the bottom tab bar, from anywhere in the app. The sheet slides up over your current screen and you can drag it taller or shorter. Opened this way it picks up the context of the screen you were on, so you can ask about what you are looking at:
- "Summarise this email for me." while reading an email
- "Add a task for the action items in this." while reading a note
- "Am I free at the time of this event?" while viewing a calendar event
Swipe the sheet down, or tap outside it, to go back to what you were doing.
As a full screen: open the Tools menu from the bottom bar and tap Ask Warp. The conversation fills the screen, titled Ask Warp, with a back button and nothing else in the way.
How to use it¶
- Open Ask Warp either way.
- If you have not started a conversation, you land on the entry screen: a large "How can I help?" heading with animated prompt suggestions beneath it. Tap one to send it, or type your own.
- Type in the composer at the bottom and send. The answer streams back as it is written.
- Keep going in the same thread. Warp uses the whole conversation for context, so you can follow up without repeating yourself.
Finding the controls¶
Two controls sit alongside the conversation: Conversation history (clock icon) and New chat (plus-square icon). Where they are depends on which way you opened it:
- In the sheet, history is at the top left of the conversation and new chat is at the top right.
- On the full screen, both sit together at the top right of the header, opposite the back button.
Tips & shortcuts¶
- You do not need perfect phrasing. Write it the way you would say it.
- Use the sheet when you are already somewhere else and want a quick answer in context. Use the full screen when you want room for a longer session.
- Context is passed automatically, but you can still ask about something unrelated to the screen you were on.
- Start a New chat when a conversation gets long. Long threads accumulate context and answers get less sharp; a fresh one is usually better than fighting it.
- Your last conversation comes back automatically when you return.
