Searching Chats and Messages

What it does

warpSpeed supports two levels of search in Messenger: searching the chat list from the Chats tab (finds conversations and individual messages), and finding a specific message inside a chat thread via Find in Chat.

How to use it

Search from the Chats tab: 1. Tap the search icon (search-outline, top-right) in the Chats tab header. 2. A search bar slides in, placeholder: "Search chats". 3. Type your query. After a 500ms debounce, results appear in two sections: - Chats: conversations whose name matches the query - Messages: individual messages whose text matches the query 4. Tap a chat result to open that conversation. 5. Tap a message result to open the chat and scroll to that message, with the term highlighted. 6. Close search by tapping the back/× button, returns to the full chat list with the All filter.

Empty states: - No matching chats: NoChatView with option to start a new chat. - No matching messages: "No messages found".

Find in Chat (within a thread): 7. Long-press a message → tap More → tap Find in Chat (search-outline icon). 8. Or use Find in Chat from the Shared Media screen for any shared item. 9. The chat thread scrolls to the original message position.

Tips & shortcuts

  • Search highlights the matched term inline within message text.
  • Use Find in Chat when you know roughly when a message was sent but don't want to scroll through hundreds of messages.
  • Warp messages in chat also support search highlighting, they're rendered differently but still searchable.
